Electrochemistry

Electrochemistry deals both with the physical-chemical phenomena at the phase boundary between an electrode and the surrounding electrolyte and with the properties of electrolytes. Electrochemistry, whose history can be traced back to antiquity, can be classified as physical chemistry. Electrochemical methods are not only suitable for basic investigations, but are also used in many technical processes for material and energy conversion (technical electrochemistry, electrochemical process engineering).
