Dissociation is the excited or self-acting process of decomposing a chemical compound into two or more molecules, atoms or ions. The degree of dissociation or the dissociation constant is used as a measure of dissociation. The degree of dissociation indicates the proportion of the original particles that is dissociated. Dissociation energy is the energy required to separate a chemical bond.
